Maharashtra Dyslexia Association — Website Redesign Overview

The Challenge

The Maharashtra Dyslexia Association exists to support individuals with dyslexia through awareness, advocacy, and access to resources. But their digital presence wasn't doing that mission justice. The existing site was difficult to navigate, visually inaccessible, and failed to communicate the breadth of services and support the organisation provides.

The challenge here was unusually meaningful: we weren't just redesigning a website, we were redesigning it for a community that processes information differently. Poor typographic choices, cluttered layouts, and low contrast weren't just aesthetically problematic — they were genuine barriers to access for the very people the organisation serves. Every design decision had real stakes.

Our Approach

We built the new site entirely in Framer, choosing it for its superior typographic control and smooth animation capabilities — both critical for delivering a calm, readable experience. The design process started with accessibility-first thinking: we evaluated typefaces specifically for their legibility at different sizes, selecting fonts with clear letterform distinction that reduce the visual confusion common to dyslexic readers. Spacing, line height, and contrast ratios were all held to strict standards throughout.

Structurally, we simplified the information architecture significantly. Clear content hierarchies, intuitive navigation, and a warm but professional visual language replaced the previous site's scattered layout. We also prioritised mobile performance, knowing many users would access resources on their phones. Every page was designed to communicate purpose quickly — what the organisation does, who it helps, and how to get involved.

The Result

The redesigned site delivers on every dimension of the brief: it is accessible, beautifully designed, and clearly communicates the MDA's mission. The dyslexia-friendly typography choices and clean visual hierarchy mean the site works for users across a wide range of reading abilities — not just those without reading difficulties. The Framer build allowed smooth animations and micro-interactions that add energy without creating cognitive overload.

Most importantly, the organisation now has a digital home that reflects the quality and care of the work they do. Outreach has a stronger foundation, resources are easier to find, and the site actively reinforces the MDA's credibility as India's leading voice on dyslexia support and advocacy.
